| People of Jammu protests curtailment in Amarnath yatra duration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 10: Protesting curtailment of Amarnath Yatra duration, People of Jammu held a protest demonstration against Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), State Government and Central Government near Digiana Pulli here today. Addressing the media, a local resident of Digiana Neeraj Bhartiya said from 60 days' duration it was brought down to 45 days last year and this year further down to 39 days. The intentions are obvious.Some of the protesters accused the state government and SASB of deliberately trying to curtail the period of the pilgrimage at the "behest of separatist forces".
They further said that the argument of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) that the step was taken to ensure safe and smooth conduct of the arduous pilgrimage is unreasonable since Chardham Yatra, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath is even more difficult still these pilgrimages continue for four-five months. |
