J&K Himalayan Trekking Programme | 4th batch of Police Public School leaves for Moungri | | Early times report JAMMU, June 10 : The fourth batch, comprised of 33 students of Police Public School in Miransahib, here today left for Moungri in district Udhampur as part of the J&K Himalayan Trekking Programme initiated by Tawi Trekkers, J&K. The group also included two students of Sprawling Buds, Jammu and another of a student of BSF Senior Secondary School. The group is led by Puneet Sharma. Four teachers of Police Public School, Rekha Suri, Meena-kshi Vaid, Priyanica Koul and Vishal Sharma also accompanied the group. While briefing the students and their parents, who had come to see off their wards, general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria apprised them saying that the main purpose of organizing a trekking progr-amme in Udhampur district was to bring adventure to the doorstep of Jammuites at a low cost. "The purpose of this trekking progamme is to highlight the tourism potential of the so far hidden and neglected beauty spots of the beautiful Moungri area and also to bring them on the tourism map of our state," said Khajuria. The programme is being organized in cooperation with Mountaineering Association of J&K, J&K State Sports Council, Department of Tourism, Jammu, WWF, J&K. The active cooperation of the local people of Moungri plays an important role in the success of this trekking programme, he mentioned.
