| Paddar killing rocks Assembly, House adjourned twice amid pandemonium | | | Jammu, Jan 31 The Legislative Assembly witnessed pandemonium over the issue of human right violations as opposition National Conference today stalled the proceedings of Assembly demanding judicial probe into fake encounters conducted by security forces. Proceedings in both houses of the Jammu and Kashmir legislature were repeatedly disrupted as Opposition leaders staged noisy protests on the issue of human rights abuses and 'fake encounters' in the state. Speaker legislative Assembly Tara Chand today was forced twice to adjourn the House amid uproarious scenes and shouting of slogans when his repeated attempts failed to calm the main opposition National Conference members who had moved an adjournment motion for holding a discussion on ‘Human Rights Violation’ in the backdrop of the killing of Carpenter Abdul Rehman Paddar. Soon after the House met for today’s business, all National Conference members were on their feet’s demanding a discussion on the issue amid shouting of anti government slogans and terming the inquiry by DIG as ‘mere eye wash’. Agitated members refused to listen to the plea of Speaker Tara Chand ,who in a bid to calm them said that Chief Minister has already given his reply on Monday adding that he has already appointed Inspector general of Police Kashmir as investigating officer. He told them that they could raise the issue again during discussion on demand for grants of Home department scheduled for Thursday. However, agitated opposition members continued to press for their demand amid shouting of anti-government slogans like “stop state terrorism” and ‘Katal government hai hai,’, terming inquiry by DIG as ‘mere eyewash’. They declared that they will not allow the house to conduct any business until the government would agree to hold a discussion on the matter. They also demanded a judicial inquiry by a High Court Judge and dismissal of SSP, Ganderbal. Minister for CA&PD Taj Mohi-u-din, who in a bid to defend government, said that his government is equally concerned and opposition should not make it a personal issue. Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party, MLA Gulam Hassan Mir also demanded discussion on the issue, saying that entire state is concerned with human rights violation as it is not an issue of a particular party. The Speaker, who made repeated attempts to maintain order during the uproar that continued for about 15 minutes finally adjourned the House for fifteen minutes. However, he was forced to adjourn the house again as opposition members resumed their protest soon the house met at 12 noon. This time NC members even stormed in the well in a bid to stall the proceedings forcing Speaker to again adjourn the House till 3 pm.
