Rashid, Hakim Yasin, Tarigami on job | New political alliance in offing | | early times report Srinagar, June 10 : In a bid to provide an alternative to National Conference and the people’s Democratic Party (PDP), some political players are seriously thinking of forming a new political alliance. Players like Hakim Yasin, Yusuf Tarigami and Engineer Rashid have confirmed possibility of forming an alliance in near future. "We are in constant touch with each other. Politics is change and change is politics, anything is possible", Tarigami told a local news agency. Tarigami, however, did not say whether the new alliance would contest elections together. Hakim Yasin while confirming his participation in meetings with above mentioned players said people want a change and we are actively considering formation of an alliance. Yasin also rued that the smaller parties did not fight the last assembly elections together. "Not fighting the last elections together was a mistake", Yasin said. "We could have done much better fighting jointly", he added. Independent MLA Engineer Rashid representing the Langate said people are interested in resolution of the dispute and I am ready to be a member of any alliance that stands for resolution of the dispute. Meanwhile, reliable sources said that Union Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad separately met the leaders of many smaller parties in this context, during his recent visits to the state. Interestingly, Tarigami, Hakim Yasin and Engineer Rashid confirmed their meetings with Azad. However, the leaders did not confirm whether he (Azad) is encouraging the formation of such an alliance. "He is my friend and I met him", said CPI (M) state secretary M Y Tarigami.
