Who is engineering divide within PYC?
6/10/2012 11:53:48 PM

Jammu, June 10: The maiden elections across the state to bring to the fore an elected Gennext leadership of the Congress could have given a major boost to the party's future cadre as well as the leadership, but disgruntled elements in the Congress are using all their resources to engineer a wedge within the recently elected leadership, thus sabotaging party's designs for the future in the state.
The Azad-Soz polarization within the party is on open display in the victory rallies of these young leaders even though PCC president Saifuddin Soz felicitated all those elected to the PYC making it clear that he wanted a united young leadership in place. Further, Shahnawaz Chowdhary, the elected PYC president had in his maiden press conference after his elections expressed the need to sink all differences and work together.
Sources within the Congress divulge that promising young vice president PYC Pranav Shagotra who has the backing of INTUC, the workers' body of the Congress is being used by the discontented Congressmen to lead the dissent. Interestingly, he has been supported by Gennext of Azad clan, Mehboob Mustafa Azad (Bhatt), a nephew of the former chief minister who has obviously defied family line to support Pranav against Shahnawaz Chowdhary, who is believed to enjoy the trust and blessings of Ghulam Nabi Azad. The move of ambitious Mustafa has irked many Azad loyalists of the state and the region.
Further, it is pertinent to mention here that the name of Rashid Chowdhary, the state NSUI president was also mentioned in the press release amongst those present in the victory rally in a bid to give an impression that Shagotra group within the PYC enjoyed the support of the NSUI, while the fact of the matter is that Rashid Choudhary was in Srinagar and obviously did not attend PYC vice president's felicitation function.
With Jammu's leadership across party affiliations already in smithereens, it is unfortunate that promising group of young leaders is fizzling out its strength even before gaining it.
