Govt deliberately heaping hardships on exiled Kashmiris: JKVM
6/11/2012 10:58:39 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 11: Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) has taken the government to task for turning a blind eye to a host of problems faced by the exiled Kashmiri Pandits.
In a press statement Dr R L Bhat, Apex Committee Member and National Vice President JKVM has said that not a single one of the tall claims and promises made by the Chief Minister at the Apex committee meeting in March 2012 had been fulfilled.
"In this hot weather the government has curtailed power supply of the Jagti Camp to 10 hours. While the cores of rupees are being obtained from the center in name of the migrant Camps and facilities for the exiled people, the hapless Pandits were being subjected to strange conditions, the statement said.
The JKVM statement rued that government seems to have forgotten that Jagti is simply the Camp that has been dislocated from Purkho and Mishriwala.
"Needless to point out that the government has provided camp facility to only about 5000 families out of a total of 38, 000 exiled families registered at Jammu i.e. just 13% of the people displaced from Kashmir, the statement said further alleging, "now this 13% is being denied the basic camp amenities, and are being asked to pay even for electricity and water."
"It may be pointed out that the state government has granted relief to only 42% of the people displaced from Kashmir. Out of these nearly 5000 families are Muslims and others who are getting the "migrant relief" at Srinagar itself, it alleged and criticized that the same apathy has been shown to the employment. 'Only a thousand or 1200 employments have been granted to the exiled kashmiri out of the 6000 jobs promised in the PM's package, the statement said.
Dr Bhat and others asserted despite CM's assurances about the safety of Shrines and Temples through an ordinance, relief enhancement, electricity supply and employments, nothing has been done till date. "All this shows the governments intentions to harass and hound the hapless migrant community and vindicates the JKVM's stand that the government is not sincere towards solving the problems of the exiled people.
