| Seven private members Bill withdrawn in LC | | | Jammu, January 31 Seven private members Bill presented in the Legislative Council have been withdrawn after the discussion and assurances given by the government. The Bills introduced were “a Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir presentation of the people Act 1957” (LC private Members Bill No. 01 of 2007) by Mr. Ghulam Rasool Kar. “A Bill to amend Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act 1997” (LC private Members Bill No. 2 of 2007) of Mr. P. Namgyal, Mr. Ashok Sharma introduced three Bills viz “A Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act 2004” (LC private Member Bill No. 3 of 2007, “A Bill to amend code of criminal procedure Samvat 1989 (1933 AD) (LC Private Members Bill No. 4 of 2007, “A Bill to amend Jammu and Kashmir State Ranbir Pannel Code 1989 (1932 AD) Act No. X1I of 1989” (LC Private Members Bill No. 5 of 2007). “A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir state lands (vesting ownership of the occupants Act 2001 (LC Private Member No. 6 of 2007)” of Mr. Bhim Singh. The time period for presenting select committee reports with regard to Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill 2006, report on the Protection of Women for Domestic Violence Bill No. 2 of 2006, the report on Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Amendment Bill No. 3 of 2006 and Jammu and Kashmir Minor Girls Marriage Bill No. 5 of 2006 has been extended upto the last day of next session of Legislative Council.

State receiving liberal centre funding under Azad: Speaker JAMMU, Jan 31—Speaker J&K Assembly, Tara Chand has said that state government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad is committed to satiate the demands of people living in the border areas of the state. The Speaker was addressing a mammoth public meeting at Jhanger situated near actual line of control of Nowshera Constituency today. He was accompanied by Minister for Rural Development Jugal Kishore Sharma, Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma. Additional district Development Commissioner, SSP Rajouri, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Assistant Commissioner Development and other District Officers. Speaker disclosed that with the vigorous and continued efforts of Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi have granted sufficient funds to the State Government under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) for the overall development of State, particularly for resettlement of border migrants. He said the matter related to Jhanger Migrants has been taken up with the government and due concentration is being given for their resettlement. Responding to the demand for compassionate appointments under SRO-43, Speaker directed the District Administration to prepare a list of sufferers due to cross firing or militancy related incidents for consideration. He also assured the people that their genuine demands would be looked into and considered in a phased manner. Jugal Kishore congratulated the people of Nowshera Constituency for getting full credit of their patriotism. He made it clear that the people have witnessed peace and progress under the dynamic leadership of Ghulam Nabi Azad who is committed to provide transparent and good governance besides eradication of corruption from the State. He said the vision of the Chief Minister could only be fulfilled with full cooperation of the people of State who has taken a revolutionary step in the history of State with the creation of 8 districts and 13 tehsils. Sharma assured the people that during next fiscal Jhanger Village would have 3 community halls besides up gradation of Middle School Jhanger to High School, which would be renamed as Brigadier Usman High School. Earlier, Dr. Romesh presented a charter of demands which included opening of Jhanger-Kotli, Jhanger-Mirpur Roads, setting up of Degree College and ITI College at Nowshera, Drinking water facilities, upgradation of Schools. He also assured for providing 3 Ambulances for Bhawani, Shermakri and Kalal besides recruitment of educated unemployed of his constituency.
