"PYC defame govt on issue of empowerment to panchayats" | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 11: Sarpanchs and panchs of some panchayats in Bhaderwah have expressed serious concern over the alleged statement of PYC president Shah Nawaz Choudhary on the issue of empowerment of panchayats by the government. The sarpanchs and panchs met today at Bhaderwah under the leadership of Sajid Ali Wani. "We were shocked when we heard that Nawaz had allegedly defamed the government on the issue of empowerment of panchayats while addressing youth Congress delegates at Bhaderwah," Wani said. "The credit goes to the government for successfully conducting the panchayat elections in the state," he added. Wani claimed that 14 government departments were at present being supervised by the sarpanchs and panchs. He alleged that efforts were being made to make non-functional the Bhaderwah campus of Jammu University. Wani alleged that a former rector of the Bhaderwah campus was involved in the financial bunglings of over Rs 3 cr. Talib Hussain, sarpench of Bhalla, said it was quite disheartening to note that outsiders were being recruited in the Bhaderwah campus. Mohammad Ashraf Bhat and Ajaz Ahmed also spoke on the occasion. |
