Court denies bail to alleged rapist

JAMMU, June 11( JNF) : Principal sessions judge Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal today rejected the bail application of Ajeet Raj who is facing trial in a case of kidnapping and rape.
According to the police case, on January 11, 2012, the victim gave a statement to police, stating therein that two days back, ie on January 9, she was going to the tailoring centre when accused came on a motorcycle at Garhi Chowk and told her that he would drop her at the centre.
She sat on the pillion seat and thereafter the accused took her to Katra where he committed rape upon her in a hotel. On the basis of her statement, police registered a case under section 36/376 of RPC.
The statement of prosecutrix Renu Rani had been recorded in the court but other eyewitnesses were yet to be examined.
Rejecting the bail application of the accused, the judge gave a detailed account of the rape cases in different parts of the country.
