Govt fails to implement development schemes in backward areas: PDP | | | Early Times Report
MAHORE, June 11: PDP today assailed the coalition regime for its alleged failure to execute development schemes in the remot and backward areas of the state. Addressing a meeting of party workers here, PDP leader Mohammad Sartaz Madni flayed the coalition regime for allegedly halting development activities in the state. He regretted that the residents of backward and far-flung areas were the worst victims of government's non-serious attitude towards executing development programmes. The PDP leader said that PMGSY programme, which was aimed at connecting inaccessible areas through road with the main towns, had virtually come to a halt in the remot areas of Reasi because the state government had failed to properly implement this scheme. Contesting the claims of the government on development front, Madni said the alleged failure of the authorities to implement PMGSY programmes in backward areas of Reasi spoke about the non-serious attitude of those who were at the helm of the affairs. They claimed that during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed various development projects were initiated for the backward regions but the present dispensation had reversed the whole process. He also criticised the government for its alleged failure to provide even basic amenities to the people of backward areas of Reasi which were faced with the shortage of ration. The PDP leader said ration was not available in the government-runs depots and the worst sufferers were those living below the poverty line. He said during the last three and a half years, this government had done nothing to ameliorate the sufferings of the people. The government had added to the problems of the people because of its alleged misgoverance, he added. Balbir Singh, Daman Bhasin, Partap Sharma, A R Wani, Shubham, Mohammad Isrial, Mohiudin and Mohammad Yasin also spoke on the occasion.
