POONCH, June 11: Semifinals line up has been dawn with the entry of PK Club, Jammu Red, 21 Bihar and Waryam Club in the last four stages of the ongoing 1st Shaheed Dy SP Manjeet Singh Memorial Hockey tournament at Boys Higher Secondary School ground, here today.
Now, in the semifinals, to be played tomorrow, PK Club Poonch shall take on Jammu Red while Waryam Club shall face 21Bihar Regiment.
Earlier, in the first round of quarterfinals, held today, PK Club trounced Hiranagar Club Kathua by two goals to nil. After a goalless first half, Talvinder (43rd) and Gurjot (62nd) scored one goal each after the breather to guide their side to a 2-0 win.
In the second quarterfinal, Jammu Red overpowered Power House Club Poonch by a similar margin of 2-0. Aman scored both the goals for Jammu Red. The third quarterfinal was won by 21Bihar blanked Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Club 6-0.
Another local side of Waryam Club Poonch registered an impressive 6-1 win over Jammu Blue in the fourth quarterfinal of the day. For Waryam club, Gurdev Singh made hat trick.
Fourth goal was scored by Matinder Pal Singh while fifth goal came through senior hockey player, ML Sharma and Chani sounded the board for six goal just before the hooter. From Jammu Blue, Guneet Singh reduced the margin in 52nd minute.
Earlier, Principal of the host school, ML Sharma interacted with the teams and encouraged the participants. Prominent among those who witnessed today's quarterfinals were Netar Singh, Mahinder Singh. Rajinder Singh, Prem Luthra, Ved Charlie, Gurdev Singh, Sanjay Misri and Daljeet Singh.
