Two Patwaris,Store keeper,among four challaned

Vigilance Organization today produced challans before the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir against Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat and Mohammad Yaseen Kalla, Patwaris caught red handed while accepting bribe and against Irrigation Department Store Keeper and a carriage contractrorfor pilfilerage of 25 truck load of Government cement. .
A Vigilance spokesmana said here today that the accused Patwaris were caught red handed on March 17 last while accepting a bribe of Rs1000/- from one Irshad Ahmad S/o Ab Ahad Shah R/o Akilmir Khanyar Srinagar. The accused had demanded and accepted the bribe for demarcation,mutation of his land. Both the accused were present at the time of presentation of challan in the Court, the spokesman added
He further said that VO also produced challan against Irrigation Department Store Keeper and a carriage Contractor for pilferage of 25 truck loads of Government cement.
The spokesman said that challan in Case FIR No 7/2005 U/S 5(2) P.C.Act r/w 407, 409, 471,120-B RPC P/S Vigilance Organization Kashmir was produced against Surinder Singh R/o Akhnoor Incharge Store Keeper Irrigation Division Akhnoor and Ishtiyaq Ahmad Sheikh R/o Sheikh Mohalla Khrew, Carriage Contractor of JK Cements in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption for pilferage of 25 truck loads of Government cementin March 2004.
He said that after receiving complaiant a Case was registered on March 19,2005 on allegations that officers/officials of Irrigation Division, Akhnoor,in connivance with officers of JK Cements Srinagar and Carriage Contractor M/s Ishtiyaq Traders have pilferaged more than 25 truck loads of cement meant for use by Irrigation Division, Akhnoor and a huge quantity of such Pilfered cement was recovered from various cement dealers in Anantnag town.
During the investigation, it was proved that out of 62 truck loads of cement meant for Irrigation Division, Akhnoor and transported through M/s Ishtiyaq Traders, Carriage Contractor of JK Cements in March 2004 from JK Cements factory Khrew, 25 trucks did not reach to the destination at Akhnoor and was pilfered. The accused Store Keeper,in connivance with carriage contractor showed the cement as having been received at Akhnoor and even issued for various ongoing works of Irrigation Division Akhnoor, the spokesman said.
Both the accused persons namely Surinder Singh and Ishtiyaq Ahmad Sheikh were also produced in the Court at the time of production of challan, he added.
