Political ploy behind Tehsildar's transfer in Anantnag
6/12/2012 12:11:18 AM
Bashir Assad
Anantnag, June 11: Allegations are being heard that a political ploy had worked behind the all of a sudden transfer of the erstwhile Tehsildar of Anantnag who has been at the centre of controversy for quite some time given his proclivity towards opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Anantnag Tahsildar Ghulam Rasool Bhat believed to be close to local PDP leadership was all of a sudden transferred and directed to report in Revenue Secretary's office till further orders.
Sources said that Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri MLC and local ruling National Conference leader who was not comfortable with Bhat given his acquaintances with PDP MLAs Abdul Rehman Veeri and Rafi Ahmad Mir got him transferred from Anantnag . Veeri, sources, said had earlier also got Bhat transferred from Anantnag, however, J&K High Court stayed his transfer orders and he continued in Anantnag till the other day.
Sources said this time Dr. Veeri built pressure on Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla and got the tehsildar transferred from Anantnag. Pertinently South Kashmir's Anantnag district is , for all practical purposes, strong bastion
of opposition PDP and Bhat who hails from Khiram village of Bijbehara constituency represented by Abdul Rehman Veeri was enjoying good relationship with local PDP leaders -some thing Dr.Veeri could not digest.
Though Bhat was stay mature and his transfer from the area was expected along with other stay mature tehsildars but his all of a sudden transfer is seen as a political ploy. Interestingly MLA Dooru and congress leader G A Mir and other local congress leaders were satisfied with the work of Bhat, however, they too could not save him from political vandalism. Sources revealed that the hands of some NC leaders including Dr. Veeri were clear behind the Tehsildar's transfer. It is being said that the NC men had been successful in pressurizing the higher-ups in transferring the Tehsildar as the presence of Bhat could not help them in
having their way.Sources said that NC people levelled serious allegations against the Tehsildar in their complaint before the Revenue Minister.
Meanwhile, NC workers from ancestral village of Bhat today strongly agitated G R Bhat's transfer from Anantnag terming it a political victimization. A large number of NC workers today met several ministers in the civil secretariat and agitated the issue demanding his return to Ananatnag.
