Apply mind on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra | | Er. Jitender Kohli | 6/12/2012 10:14:24 PM |
| The controversy of Yatra period between some of Jammu based Hindu organizations and Shri Baba Amarnath Ji Shrine Board including state government rests more on ego, self projection for popularity aimed for certain vested interests and to prove governing strength with rigidness. This has taken both the sides away from the real cause and to chalk out amicable settlement which can provide relief to the common devotees including ease them to perform for the more period then fixed by the Shrine Board and claimed by the Hindu organizations. There is no denial that from 1995 to 2001under the State government management the pilgrimage period varied between 19 days to 32 days as the governing arm had never seriously honoured and handled it with proper facilities required for the movement of pilgrims. In 1996 the storm hail had costed precious life of 243 pilgrims due to faulty arrangements made by the then government. The Shrine Board was constituted in 2001 as per the Nitish Sen Gupta inquiry report to ensure better and safe facilities to the pilgrims. The Hindu organizations are depending on the period from the sacred Jeyshth Purnima to the Raksha Bandhan falling as per the Vikrami Samvant which varies from the Christian Calendar. In 2010, as per Christian Calendar, the pilgrim of 60 days had started from 1st July to 24th August, the day Raksha Bandhan fell. In 2011 it started on 29th June for 39 days concluding on Raksha Bandhan falling on 13th August. This year, 2012, the Raksha Bandhan falls on 2nd August and it is to start on 25th June limiting the pilgrim period to 39 days. The start rests on the weather, making the tracks fit for the tracking, ensuring the route facilities to the pilgrims and above all the security to their lives. So the date of start can be an option depending on the weather and ability in erecting the facilities and clearing the route as the pilgrimage depends on the weather and climatic atmosphere hovering over the both tracks, from Chandanwari and Baltaal as well. But there is no hard and fast rule to windup the Yatra on the Raksha Bandhan day. The Shrine Board and State government can handle this Yatra till the weather permits beyond the Raksha Bandhan. The devotees for Mata Vaishno Devi, Chamunda Mata, Kangra Mata or Jawala Ji or many more other sacred places are not confined between the Navratara only. The devotees can perform pooja before or after these days. The restricted yatras of Badri Nath Ji or Kedarnath ji and other similar places are also exclusively depend on the climatic atmosphere, practically encountered. The sacred deities are shifted on the lower altitude seat. The devotees can have darshana depending on the available reaching facilities and the place deities are. But this is not feasible with Shri Baba Amarnath Ji seat being solely regulatory with the available climatic position worth for tracking. Thus in the present conditions the Shri Baba Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and the State government can extend the Yatra after the Raksha Bandhan to the date the weather is forecasted to become snowing. The Hindu community shall appreciate and accept this extension and the agitating Hindu organizations possibly may also accept it. The main argument, here, rests with the snow made Shivlingam appearing in the sacred cave, but one can not deny that even if it starts melting and disappears before Raksha Bandhan, the devotees continue to pay their prayers in the sacred cave. The devotion oozes from the heart with a zeal to reach that spot at least once in their life time. The government may be keen in getting rid of security responsibilities of the pilgrims but cripples a part of tourism income the inhabitants of the valley and the government can earn. More the government encourages this Yatra more the tourism flourishes and the interaction between the valley people and pilgrims can defuse the misunderstanding and suspicions prevailing in their minds. Like last year, this year again the Shiv Bhagat from the various parts of the states started poring in on the call of State Hindu Organization Unit. The majority of them were denied entrance to this state by the government. Who reached here, were running from poll to pillar to avail the facilities of Yatra to start on the Jeyshth Purnima ensured by the State Hindu Organization Unit. It is shocking that what made this organization to repeat the last year's folly again? None of this organization seems to have physically visited Baltaal or Chandanwari to find the ground facts. The Baba Amarnath Niyas was the hero of the last year's confrontation who has now isolated themselves from this year's agitation or call. The central leaders of Bajrang Dal had spearheaded this agitation for three days in Jammu and winded up to carry it to the Nation level. On the first day there were about four to five hundred agitators, including very few of this state, in Prade ground Jammu which declined the next day. The B.J.P. though supported this agitation but could not muster a good strength. One can't digest that the Jammu region doesn't like to have more Yatra days than the Shrine Board and State government had allowed. The people do wish and demand for it but they could not trust the agitating leaders. As they are finding the same faces in each press conferences of State wing of agitating Hindu organizations. The Jammuites are not confident with this handful bunch of the leaders who have perhaps, not worked at the ground level to muster strength. They have kept themselves alive with the press releases by threatening to start agitation at national level for the injustice to Jammuties or any other eventuality. What wonders how the central leaders choice to join for this agitation call of State units? Is it either they are misquoted, manipulated or they also wish to give their presence in the State only through the media? The state wing has damaged its image at the national level, who will support their future calls? Numerous Jammu rooted NGOs claim fighting against the injustice unleashed by the Kashmiri leaders for the last sixty three years, have never united for the cause. What is the utility of such organizations which are mustering bleak strength countable on the finger tips? The application of mind is essential for measuring the pros and cons of any call, order or decision on each subject. Had the government taken all party leaders in confidence before announcing the Yatra dates, the resentment must have not aroused as they could educate the devotees. The agitation call must rest on the facts and with the possibility of providing what they offer. Still the time is there with the Shrine Board, Government and the Jammu based leaders to work out the possibility of extending this Yatra beyond Raksha Bandhan with on spot registration till the weather permits. This can be implemented in future whenever the similarity occurs. The devotees shall appreciate this gesture and like to avail an opportunity of praying in that cave which otherwise they are missing now. |
