| JAMMU, June (JNF) 12: High Court Judge, Justice J P Singh today disposed of a petition filed by Ajab Singh Wazir facing trial in the Chopra family murder case by directing the superintendent of district jail here to take the petitioner in proper custody to the government medical college, Jammu, on June 15 next where its principal would ensure that he be examined by the head of department of neurology for his treatment. After his examination, he would be brought back to the jail where he would be provided the treatment as suggested by the specialist. After Wazir's counsel submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied in case he was examined by the HoD, neurology, GMC, the AAG did not oppose it. Justice Singh, after hearing the two sides, observed that the petitioner was entitled to medical treatment even in custody as this was one of the essential human rights. With these observations, the court disposed of the petition at the initial stage. |
