| IGNOU students get scholarship cheques | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , June 12 : Scholarship distribution function was organised at IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu at SPMR College of Commerce premises, Canal Road, Jammu today where Post-Matric Scholarships worth r91900/- (Rupees Ninty one thousand nine hundred) were distributed among 10 IGNOU students belonging to the ST category by the Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of J&K. K K Bhat, Regional Director Vikram Singh, Asstt. Regional Director and Anju Bala from IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu were present on the occasion. K K Bhat, Regional Director, expressed that the Govt. of J&K is not only supporting, but also encouraging IGNOU in reaching out to the masses of the region. The students belonging to Poonch, Billawar, Laddakh and other districts of J&K received the Scholarship Cheques during the occasion.
The students are enrolled with IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu in various disciplines like Sociology, Psychology, Tourism, Library Sciences and Food Services Quality Management for Bachelors as well as Post Graduate Diploma/Degree Programmes. In addition to the reimbursement of fee, the Directorate of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of J&K, Jammu is also providing some Maintenance Allowance to these students.
The students expressed happiness for the Govt. of J&K and IGNOU for encouraging them to carry on with their studies.
All the SC/ST students who are studying through Open and Distance Education in IGNOU are eligible to get these scholarships from local/state Government provided they submit the applications in the proper format as per the schedule after due verification from the IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu. |
