NC promises development in Chenab region | | | early times report Kishtawar, June 12: The National Conference today renewed their unflinching commitment to reach out to the remotest corner of the State with a message that NC is the only party that can ensure development, peace and progress of the entire state. This ‘epoch’ making statement was made by NC additional general secretary, Dr Mustafa Kamaal after concluding the tour of Chenab region. National Conference, Kamaal knows fully, has failed to develop the Srinagar city. This was felt by the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram on his visit to the old city last year. He was told that agitation proved a major hurdle in developmental works. The Valley remained calm last year. There was ample time for the government to undertake developmental works. However, the stinky city was ignored. June is about to end and peace has a good chance to flourish. Notwithstanding this, no works have been undertaken. A dispensation that fails to develop the `face of the state' ensures development in remote areas. This is a crude joke and the people of Chenab region should not take their hopes to Everest. Chenab region has become very important for the mainstream parties as well as for the separatists. Congress, PDP and BJP have already visited the area. National Conference has just concluded its tour. The separatists have not been allowed to enter the area. When an area assumes importance, the politicians promise stars to sell themselves. Kamaal has not done anything different by promising development in remote areas. He too is a politician after all.
