"Tendering nexus' exposed, Korean official, CE, AEE among 4 arrested
Enticement of Rs 1.8 lakh seized, raids continue at residences of Chief Engg, AEE

Jammu, June 12: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today exposed a 'tendering nexus' between Mechanical Engineering (ME) top officials and Korean based Weighpad Supplying Company and seized cash amounting to Rs 1.8 lakh from the office of Chief Engineer Mechanical where the illegal deal was in progress, sources said.
High placed sources within SVO told that following a specific information about an illegal deal to manipulate a tender is being held at the office of Chief Engineer at Bikram Chowk and a raid was conducted by the sleuths of SVO.
Sources said that it was a surprise for the sleuths that deal was being scheduled between Chief Engineer ME and some top ranks from CAS India Pvt Limited Company.
"The SVO sleuths led by SSP Vigilance Shakti Pathak raided the complex and barged into the room where the deal was being struck and seized enticement worth Rs 1.8 lakh from the spot, sources said. They added that sleuths arrested Calvin Yoon, Managing Director M/s CAS India Pvt. Ltd., a South Korean National and Anil Dhar, Deputy General Manger M/s CAS India Pvt Ltd resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi in lieu of extending undue favour to the firm namely M/s CAS India Pvt Ltd, which the private individuals agreed to pay for purchase of WEIGH PADS from the aforesaid firm, through manipulation of tender process.
Besides company's official the Mechanical Engineer Zahoor H Ahmed of Hyderpora, Srinagar and AEE Ranjan Kumar Langar of Janipur were also arrested on spot.
"Meanwhile, simultaneous raids were conducted at the respective residences of accused officials of Mechanical Engineer and are in progress to further probe the case and to dig out more swindles committed by the officials," sources added.
They added that during the raids sleuths also seized some incriminating and bank documents from the respective residences of both the accused officials.
Meanwhile State Vigilance Organization (SVO), Jammu and Kashmir registereda case FIR No. 08/2012 U/S 5(2) J&K P.C Act r/w 161, 165-A, 120-B RPC at Police Station State Vigilance Organsiation Jammu in this regard.
Pertinent to mention here that Korean based CAS company is a global provider of industrial and retail scales, and the company operates two offices in the U.S. Sources added that contact on phone between MD, DGM of the company and Mechanical Engineering officials was in progress for the last few months since company officials came to know that a tender of Weighing Pads for government vehicles of Mechanical Engineer was all set to float. "And to get tender the Korean company officials reached in the office of the Mechanical Engineer for manipulation in tender, they added.
