Case of equal relief to Jammu, Kashmir migrants

Minister of State for Revenue Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz told Legislative Council that matter of providing relief to the Jammu migrants at par with the Kashmiri migrants has been taken up by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad with the central government and hoped that it would be accepted.
While replying a discussion in the House on the subject he said provision of relief to these families involve financial implication to the tune of Rs. 9 crore per annum for 1682 families comprising 9388 souls).
Minister said in compliance with Hon’ble Supreme Court’s order, 179 families from Reasi and 169 families from Mahore of district Udhampur putting up in Talwara colony stand provided relief in the shape of improved relief package w.e.f. February 2003 to March 2004 at the scale of cash assistance @ Rs.400 per head subject to a maximum of Rs. 1600 per family per month and free ra tion @ 11 kgs, (9 kgs atta and 2 kgs rice) per head per month and kerosene oil @ 10 ltrs. Per family per month.
He said subsequently, in pursuance of government order No: Rev/MR-67 of 2006 dated 28-04-2006 the relief of free ration was granted to 938 registered migrant families living at different places in Udhampur district for a period of three months.
He said 133 families of district Doda are registered with Relief Organization Jammu as per the directions of High Court and are getting relief at par with Kashmiri migrants.
Earlier, discussion was initiated by Prof. Bhim Singh on the subject “suffering of Jammu migrants from the district Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch and other areas”.
Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi and Mr. Nassarullah also took part in the discussion.
