DC reviews arrangements for Shri Amarnath Ji yatra | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 14 : Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma convened a meeting with presidents/representatives of religious organizations and sabhas to discuss arrangements for smooth and successful conduct of ensuing Shri Amarnath Yatra, 2012. SSP Jammu Prabhat Singh, SP South Rajeshwar Singh, ADC Jammu Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, ADC Jammu Rohit Khajuria and other senior officers of various departments were also present in the meeting. Verma discussed various issues regarding appropriate accommodation for the yatries at various religious places, sabhas and community halls. He enjoined upon the concerned officers to ensure un-interrupted power supply and provision of adequate drinking water to the yatries during the yatras days at various places where the yatries will be accommodated. He also directed for ensuring sanitation and other necessary arrangements for convenience of the yatries. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrangements being made for Amarnath Yatra 2012, at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar at an officers meeting of the concerned departments here today. Commissioner JMC K. L. Khajuria, SSP Security Jammu R. K. Chalotra, SE PDD Gurbachan Singh, XEN PHE Ashok Gandotra, Health Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma and other senior officers of various departments were also present. Verma discussed various matters with the Civil and Police administration with a view to ensure timely arrangements for the ensuing Shri Amarnath ji Yatra. He stressed the need for greater synergy and coordination between the Civil Administration, Police, Security Forces, and other concerned departments to ensure that the required arrangements are put in place well in advance. To ensure the quality and rates of eatables and other essential commodities during the yatra period, Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of different departments to conduct regular inspection of market to check overcharging and black marketing by the shopkeepers. He directed the XEN PHE to ensure safe drinking water to the yatries besides provide adequate water tanker supply to various sabhas during the Amarnath Yatra days. |
