Early Times Report
Jammu, June 14 : In context of an issue of great concern i.e. Recent illogical demand of CAIT & Jammu Chamber of commerce, to keep in abeyance the much delayed "Food safety & Standards Act, 2006 for five years, a press conference was organized today by "ALL J&K MOVEMENT FOR PEACE & JUSTICE" at hotel India pride, Jammu wherein it was termed as anti people and strongly criticized.
Addressing the press conference, Deep Singh a prominent member of the movement said that in view of large scale unchecked adulteration and the deteriorating conditions of eatables, such an Act was need to be enforced fifteen years back. It is quite surprising that our business community which is also a part of system and while ignoring its duties towards the nation seems self focused always, Mr. Singh further added. Before opposing the entry of multi-national companies into retail business of India, business organizations like Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Jammu Chamber of Commerce should stress up on their members against the unfair practice and support the government for reforms as improvement in the internal system can only create a cordial atmosphere and will help in restraining the foreign investment, he further expressed.
Movement also criticized the ongoing campaign of Jammu chamber of commerce i.e. to impress the authorities against the implementation of Food safety & Standard Act, 2006 and also termed it total illogical in view of bulk sale of sub-standard eatables in country markets and large scale adulteration in food items causing threat to innocent human and animal lives.
Movement also criticized the recent past anti public role of Associate Chamber of Commerce Jammu, a sister concern of the Jammu Chamber that sabotaged the effective campaign of CAPD department to fix the day to day rates of fruits and vegetables in Jammu 3-4 years back by opposing like any thing. Was it a fair agenda of our business community? Similarly despite of time to time directions of hon'ble High Court, authorities failed to remove the encroachment of foot paths of city due to non co-operation of shop keepers and in such a situation is it not the responsibility of Jammu chamber to come forward as a gesture of co-operation? Movement further expressed. Weak Laws on adulteration and other prevailing unfortunate conditions of our internal system are posing threats to our survival and need to be reined immediately and in that case safety and standards are need to be checked everywhere and it is duty of all countrymen to be sincere enough and stand united for this major cause, the movement activists said.
