PIL against Noise Pollution due to use of loud speakers in Religious Institutions | DB directs AAG to submit latest compliance report | | Jammu, June 14 JNF): In a public interest litigation seeking restraint on the use of loud speakers in the religious institutions at night and during wee hours in the morning, a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir issued fresh directions and asked AAG Gagan Basotra to submit latest compliance report stating as to in what manner the state has taken requisite steps to implement the various directions of the Supreme Court of India and proposes to take further steps in this regard. These people friendly directions were passed in a PIL filed by Life Plus Club a Social Organization through its Joint Secretary Anil Kumar Bargotra.Division Bench after hearing Sr. Adv Sunil Sethi assisted by Adv Veenu Gupta appearing for the PIL and AAG Gagan Basotra appearing for the state, considered the submissions of both the sides and appreciated the concern shown in the PIL. In the PIL it is submitted that reciting of prayer with the help of microphones and loud speakers during night i.e. between 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is not only the cause of nuisance in the neighborhood, but also disturb the sound sleep of aged and infirms who would otherwise want reasonable quietness during their leisure hours. |
