early times report
Kishtwar, June 14: Shri Tulsi Ram, speaker Himachal Pradesh Assembly on a day's visit to Kishtwar district said today Buddhist Spiritual leader, his holiness Dalai Lama is safe and secure in Himachal Pradesh.
Tusli Ram was talking to Early Times after Himachal police claims to have arrested 8 people from Mandi Tehsil of Dhramshala District of neighboring state of Himachal Pradesh on the charges of being Chinese spies. He said after arrest of 8 people, Himachal Police is interrogating them for their alleged links with Chinese spy agencies. Tulsi Ram while confirming the arrest of eight people from Mandi said that in case the allegations were found true then it is an unfortunate matter. He said that his holiness Dalai Lama is residing in macleodganj area of Dharamshala and said that there are full security arrangements in place for the security of Dalai Lama arranged by both state as well as central governments.
"His holiness Dalai Lama last time visited civil secretariat to witness the proceedings of budget session state assembly and on this occasion government also discuss with him about his security arrangements for which he (Dalai Lama) shows his satisfaction." Tulsi Ram said. He said that police is interrogating the arrested persons to ascertain their links. He said that only after questioning of the arrested persons, they will be able to know about the plan as well as their target. He said that during last Budget Session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly, MLA Lahol-Sipti Ram Lal Markande brought to the notice of the government the issue of intrusion by two Chinese aeroplanes into Lahol area. He said that after this, Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh Prem Kumar Dhumal brought the matter to the notice of union government.
He said that state government through a written communication has also raised concern before the union government about repeated Chinese intrusions into India air space. He said that the state government demands of construction of rail link is only due to the reason that China has managed to construct the rail link up to Lassa. "China has already successfully constructed railway line as well as road to Lassa on Himachal Pradesh border and they (Chinese) are sitting next to our heads." Tulsi Ram added.
He said that state Chief Minister from time to time requested the central government for construction of railway line from Mandi to Kullu Via Manali-Lohal Sipti up to China border so that we will be able to strengthen our defence line. He said that despite repeated request, the union government has turned a blind eye towards the state government's demand and failed to sanction any kind of funds for construction of this railway line in this year's rail budget.
The Speaker said that he will write a letter to union government in which the Himachal Government will stress for expediting the construction on Gulabgard-Pangi road so that the state will get full access to many unconnected areas of Himachal Pradesh during winter season. BJP delegation led by State secretary Sunil Sharma also called on Tulsi Ram and held discussions on various party related issues.
