Omar rants Pak's importance | | | early times report Jammu, June 14: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has once again tried to bring in external forces in the internal problems of J&K by stating that dimilitraisation of Siachen shouldn't be treated separately from Kashmir dispute. The statement comes at a time when Pak, on the verge of being called failed State, has himself proposed for the same. The demilitarization has important futuristic ramifications. Once both parties agree, it could lead to Pakistan taking its hand off the Kashmir problem. The neighbouring state would be forced to take this step, after sponsoring terrorism for about two-decade, on the terms of India. This could eventually lead to closure of separatists' shop. It's because of this reason that separatists have already started showing signs of change and PDP has in a guarded manner welcome the interlocutors report and its patron is campaigning in Jammu knowing the fact the future elections wouldn't be contested on Kashmir issue but on local governance. Omar Abdullah, but on the other hand, is trying to deflect attention on his government by ranting about Kashmir issue, time and again. He is trying to please as section of Kashmiri population, which is supportive of NC for its policies of keeping an uncertainty over the relations of the State with India by forcibily factoring in Pakistan. It has worked best in the past. The late chief minister Sheikh Abdullah, the grandfather of Omar Abdullah, aided by his man-Friday Mirza Afzal Beigh, had mastered this art to perfection for their political opportunism. However, much water has flown in Jehlum, Chenab and Tawi, in between. Pakistan has lost its game plan and is no more aided by external forces, which have now turned friends with India on account of its growing economic strength. The section of people is slowly weathering away. The younger generation is slowly finding its more comfortable in mainstream India, exhibited by success and interests on Kashmiri youth in IAS, rather than on old rhetoric's. Sensing this change, even Hurriyat has stopped issuing such 'Pak centric' statement. However, Omar still believes that he can achieve success by deflecting public attention from main issue. He did so by raising issue of Accession when he was embroiled in Haji Yousaf murder case. But in the past it has boomeranged also. In the initial days of 2010 unrest, he had said some stone pelters can't be allowed to hold state at ransom, but latter admitted that it was most difficult and learning period for him. He must learn to accept fast changing realities and deliver on ground rather than on off repeated rehtorics if he is serious in staying in J&K.
