Rising Star wins by 7 wkts in U-16 tourney

JAMMU, June 16: Rising Star won the inaugural match beating Laxmi Cricket Club (LCC) by seven wickets in the under-16 knock-out tournament, organised by Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, LCC bowled out for 91 runs in 30.1 overs of the 40 overs match. In reply, Rising Star chased the total making 94 runs n just 20 overs losing three wickets.
Rakshit was top scorer with 27 runs while Ratandeep and Yogesh (not out) contributed 15 and 14 runs respectively. From Rising Star Sahil Lotra was most successful bowler with three for two runs in four overs while Pavit Singh Ishar bowled equally well with four for 11 in eight overs.
Batting second, Rising Star attained the goal in 20 overs with seven wickets in hand. Sahil Lotra played fine innings of 41-ball 45 runs, followed by Sanchit, who contributed 15 runs. Ishan and Jagteshwar took one wicket each from LCC.
Sandeep Singh and Paras Sharma were umpires in today's match. In all, seven teams are taking part in this knock-out competition, including two teams of JKCA Blue and JKCA Red.
Prominent among those present in the inaugural match of the tournament were joint secretary, Hardev Singh Jamwal, Ashok Singh, Shahid Parvez, Dr Vinod Bakshi, Prof B D Damral, Dr Dinesh Jasrotia, Rohit Malhotra, Prithvi Vaid, Saleem ur Rehman, Harsh Nayyar, Ravi Kant, Varinder Sharma, Ajit Singh, Romesh Goswami and Suresh Singh.
