| Prof Gupta leads protest against shortage of 'power and water' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 16: To agitate the basic problems facing the Jammuities the representative several organizations led by Former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta staged a massive darna to register protest against frequent power curtailments and irregular water supply here today.
Among those prominent who joined in the protest included Members of the Assembly namely Jagdish Spolia, Master Lal Chand, Bharat Bhushan, Prof Garu Ram as also Chairman JKDF, Anil Gupta, Chamber General Secretary, Arun Gupta and many others representatives of other social organizations.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Gupta and others asserted that there were deliberate attempts to put the Jammuities to face problems like that of electricity, drinking water, sanitation, traffic jams and others of basic nature.Prof Gupta pointed out that the power crisis has mysteriously developed immediately after the 'Darbar Move' last month.
'Otherwise, the generation of Hydel Power increases in Jammu areas during summer days but it was intriguing that Jammu has been put to face power crises especially when there is scorching heat of the summer, speakers added.
They further said that on one hand in power crisis has been created, on the other the people are being coerced to pay bigger electricity bills.
On the contrary where there are bigger losses on account of electricity, there is no such coercion.
Others who addressed also included Shri Murari Lal, Shri Krishan Lal, Shri Deepak Sharma, Shri Arun Khanna, Shri Surinder Sharma, Shri Parshant Puri.
At the darna an ultimatum was given to the Govt authorities to rectify the wrongs being inflicted against people, otherwise they will be forced to stage much bigger protests. |
