HC tells Sher-e-Kashmir College to complete admission formalities | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jun 16 : High Court directed management of Sher-e-Kashmir College of Education to fulfill statutory requirement of completing 180 teaching days including practicals so that the admission of 142 students can be regularized. This significant order was passed by Justice Varinder Singh. University of Jammu took a specific stand through their Counsel Wasim Sadiq Nargal against both the petitions filed by college and students. University maintained that the students admitted in the said college have not been attending the college regularly and that authorities have prepared a false attendance. University further said that as and when the monitoring committee inspected the college in terms of the court order, it found hardly any student attending the classes. Court had already directed the college to identify the date from which regular classes will commence, so that, it is monitored by the University, physically. Court specifically directed in the earlier petitions which were disposed off that in case if the students actually undertake classes and practical training, there admission in the college would be regularized as one time exception by giving post facto approval subject to the maximum intake capacity. Besides that it was categorical stand of the University of Jammu that the students have to fulfill all other conditions like registration return, depositing of examination fees, filling the examination form to earn eligibility for appearing in the examination. University in order to ascertain the factual position constituted the monitoring Committee to monitor the class work of B.Ed students of Sher-e-Kashmir College so that they complete 180 teaching days. From the perusal of the inspection reports submitted by the monitoring committee, it was manifestly clear that there was hardly any student present during the college hours and accordingly, University didn't regularize the admission of 140 students admitted unauthorized by the College. When both the petitions came up for hearing before the court, the stand of the University stood vindicated and court directed the colleges to fulfill statutory requirements besides directing the monitoring committee to monitor that the classes. Court directed the students to present themselves physically so that there admissions can be regularized and the examination can be conducted. Court directed the University that once the College does the needful subject to the satisfaction of monitoring Committee, University can take steps to conduct the examination of these 142 candidates preferably within one month. It is pertinent to mention that Senior advocate K.S Johal appeared on behalf of the Sher-e-Kashmir college and the students in two separate writ petitions. Advocate Wasim Sadiq Nargal appeared on behalf of University of Jammu |
