| ‘Jammu DC goes Taliban way, enforces dress code’ | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 16: In complete violation of humanitarian norms, security guards viciously humiliated a female 8th class student of Presentation Convent School for allegedly violating dress code enforced allegedly by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu out of his own sweet will.
The dress code to enter DC Jammu’s office has to be adhered to. Otherwise, if the guards are to be believed, DC sahab has no time for commoners. A student of class VIII in Presentation Convent School, Gandhi Nagar Jammu and her parents were subject to humiliation at the entrance of DC Office, Jammu none but at the hand of police personnel standing at the entrance of the gate over the dress the girl child wore.
The crime the female child committed was that she was wearing Capri and top instead of Salwar and Kameez. She alleged that she was stopped at the entrance on the plea that she could not enter inside the premise of Deputy Commissioner’s office since she was not wearing proper dress.
Surinder Kichloo, Scientist, D -15, IIIM Residential Complex, Canal Road, Jammu and her wife faced worst day when they went to the DC office for obtaining state subject. As per Kitchoo, on June 7, he along with his wife and daughter went to D.C office Jammu for obtaining the state subject certificate, but to his utter surprise, his daughter was denied entrance inside the office premises on the plea that she was not in proper dress by the gate staff.
“My daughter Ms. Khushi Namita Kitchlu who is a student of class VIII in Presentation
Convent School, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, was wearing Capri and top. Security people deployed at the entrance were very rude and reluctant to allow her entry. They were insisting that they can only permit her entry if she is dressed in Salwar-Kameez suit because we have such orders”, Kitchoo said.
He further alleged that “the Presentation Convent School, authorities who are more conscious about dress code than any one else in the town permit skirt and shirt up to VIII standard. “When I requested staff of DC Jammu, that I want to take up the matter with D.C, I was not allowed to meet him,” alleged Kitchloo.
Lamenting alleged talibanisation of state where innocent citizens have no say, Kitchloo said that after an hour of harassment at the gate, a police constable was sent by staff of D. C who made our entry possible. Demanding action against the rude police officer which including a lady constable and two male constables in civil dress, Kitchloo is all set to file RTI for the order DC Jammu passed in this connection.
However, DC Jammu Sanjeev Verma when contacted said that he had no knowledge about the incident adding action should be taken if the aggrieved should meet him. lady ct, two others in civil |
