Bhalla launches Rs 3.98 cr WSS at Chatta
'Lays foundation of Rs 81 lakh development works'

JAMMU, June 17 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that Government has earmarked Rs. 3.98 crore under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) to meet the requirement of drinking water supply in water deficit areas like Chatta, Bermini, Mohra kut, Mohra Rorian and Mohra Daruni and Rati Sarari of Sunjwan area. This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation of 83864 gallon per hour discharge capacity deep drill tube at Chatta in Sunjwan, here today. Bhalla said Government has issued instructions to the PHE and ERA officers to put their all out efforts in providing adequate drinking water facilities in water shortfall areas by digging deep drill tube wells and hand pumps.
He said there is no constraint of funds under PHE and ERA sectors. Bhalla said that the deep drill tube well would be handed over to 10483 souls of the Chatta, Bermini, Rati Sarari village in the month of October this year. He said after commissioning of tube well, there is no house would be remained without adequate drinking water facilities even at the tail end the areas. He said the construction of deep drill tube well including laying of water supply pipes works would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.98 crore unsder (NRDWP). For providing wayside drinking water facilities from Sunjwan to Chatta village people, the Minister asked the PHE engineers to construct 35 water reservoirs, adding that the funds on the cost would be provided from his constituency development fund. Responding to the locals demand, Bhalla said Government has retrieved 10 kanal land for construction of Primary Health Centre and establishment of permanent police post at Chatta village.
He said the construction works on the projects would be started after completing codal formalities including funds from Panning Department. Regarding upgradation of Government High School Bathindi, he said a proposal in this regard has been submitted to School Education Ministry for sanction, adding that immediately after getting approval, the infrastructure of the school including Laboratory, Library besides additional rooms would be constructed under RAMSA. Earlier, at Nanak Nagar, Ajeet Nagar and Qasim Nagar, the Minister kick started construction work of lanes and drains, for which Government has earmarked Rs. 41 lakh.
