Jammu's life line being polluted by Government: Bhagat

Jammu, June 17 : "Ranbir Canal is the life line of Jammu city dwellers and the farmers of the rural population and our own government is poisoning it," said SDP Provincial president Sham Bhagat while speaking to the media persons during SDP's protest demonstration against the pumping of whole of the drainage of the city into the life line of Jammu. This protest demonstration was led by SDP General Secretary Ajay Kumar, and other leaders who participated included provincial president Sham Lal Bhagat, State Youth president Gursagar Singh, Sanjay Manhas, Sachin Jamwal, Kamaljeet Singh, Vishal Choudhry, Raj Rattan, Ajay Raina, Balvinder Singh Charak, P K Hazare and Subhash Baba. This programme was organized by SDP leaders near RRL on the Akhnoor Road on the bank of Ranbir Canal adjacent to the drainage water dumping pond. Sham Bhagat said that whole of this stored water is pumped intoRanbir Canal which ultimately carries this poison to the world famous Basmati fields of RS Pura. SDP leaders termed this drainage pumping as a criminal act. "The government's environment ministry speaks loudly against water pollution and organizes seminars and campaigns for educating the common people but who will educate these planners who pump poison into the veins of Jammu," said Sham Bhagat. SDP leaders loudly protested against the government's impious attitude and sent an ultimatum to the Jammu municipality and other government agencies to immediately find a substitute for disposing off the drainage water or face a mass agitation.
