Police associates central agencies in investigation | Arrest of 3 JK Cops | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 17: Top officials of the Jammu Kashmir Police are tight lipped over the arrest of three constables for their alleged links with the militants. Although the acting DGP tried to play down the arrests, informed sources said the police was worried over the development. Pertinent to mention, the DGP K Rajendra while talking to newsmen yesterday said it was not a `dangerous situation'. According to him, such things have happened in the past as well. The interrogation of the arrested constables, sources said, has provided enough evidence about `increasing number of men in uniform in the loop of HM. And as the investigation progresses, many skeletons are likely to tumble out of the police closet. The seriousness of the issue can be gauged from the fact that the police have associated central agencies with the investigations into the misconduct of arrested constables. A police statement issued late this evening read: "In the ongoing investigation of case FIR no 48/2012 of Police Station Shergadi lodged under Section 10,13,18 unlawful activities prevention act and section 3 of Police Enhanced Penalities Ordinance, the central agencies have also been associated. As has been shared with the media yesterday, three cops have been taken into custody and their conduct is being scrutinized", the statement added. |
