5 killed as truck rolls down into Khuni nallah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 17: In a tragic road accident, five persons were killed when a loaded truck rolled down into Khuni nallah near Ramban today.According to police sources, during the intervening night of June 16 and 17, an ill-fated truck bearing registration number JK01H-6412 carrying rice bags of Food Corporation of India (FCI) from Jammu to Srinagar plunged into deep gorge at Khuni Nallah which is more than 200 feet deep from National Highway, resulting on the spot death of 5 persons due to the rash and negligent driving. Soon after receiving the information about the accident, DySP (Hqrs.) Parbeet Singh Parihar and Inspector Ravinder Singh Parihar, SHO P/S Ramban along with heavy contingent of Police personnel under the close supervision of Anil Magotra, SP Ramban, proceeded for the spot and started rescue operation. However, the rescue team could evacuate only bodies of all the five deceased. Those who were killed in the accident have been identified as Parvez Ahmed (Driver) S/o Sarket Ali R/o Qaziqund, Amir Hussain (Conductor) S/o Gh. Mustafa Kamal R/o Qazikund, Mohd Iqbal S/o Alla Rakha R/o Nagrota, Mohd. Farooq S/o Qasim R/o Reasi and Rakeena D/o Qasim R/o Reasi. All dead bodies of accident victims were shifted to District Hospital Ramban and later on handed over to the relatives of the deceased early in the morning after conducting post-mortem. In this regard a case FIR No. 87/2012 u/s 279/304-A RPC has been registered at Police Station Ramban. Further investigation is in progress. |
