Village heads demand security, powers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 18 : The elected village heads have regretted government's apathetical attitude towards them in not providing them security in view of the increasing threat perception and neither giving them any powers. Eshfaq ur Rehman Poswal, the President of ABGM said, that during his a seven day visit to Kashmir Valley found that the Panchs & Sarpanch were not given any powers & security. A delegation of the local people headed by Mohd basher, sarpanch Bari Bela, Kellar, Shopian, met Poswal and briefed him about their problems. They complained that they are receiving threats from the militants outfits. The recent example is the attack on Mohd Ishtiaq , Sarpanch Jarakan, Kellar, Shopian by the militants. He is still struggling for life in the Hospital. The govt. has not given any attention towards him. He must get some ex-gratia & other kinds of necessary provisions so that other Sarpanch & Panchs too may not lose hope. Poswal complained that the recent selection list of the candidates for General Line Teachers of Kashmir Province shows that most of the non ST candidates have been given preference and ST candidates have been neglected. Govt. is repeating such approach inspite of the repeated plead of the ST category people. Thus the ST candidates must get reservation through inter Divisional Recruitment.Poswal briefed that powers and security must be provided to the Panchs & sarpanchs of Kashmir Province, Inter Divisional Recruitment must be made for ST Candidades as in the case of SC candidates do. Similarly the SC/ST Plan must be formulated as per the Planning Commission of India's guidelines and directives. |
