NC-Cong leaders launches war | | | early time report Jammu, June 18: Despite being two major coalition partners-ruling Jammu and Kashmir state- the leadership of both NC and Congress has launched scathing attacks against the working of each other. The said attacks in terms of allegations and counter-allegations and some times in a veiled manner clearly indicates that "all is not well" among the coalition partners. While in government, the Ministers of both NC and Congress claims that the coalition is running smoothly and with good understanding and faith among each other, the situation is quite opposite at party level. Few days back, the NC leaders including its entire Provincial level team and party's spokesperson and former Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr Mustafa Kamaal visited erstwhile Doda and Kishtwar districts and addressed public meetings. Surprisingly, instead of holding joint meetings while taking along Congress leaders and supporters, NC chose to walk alone. Furthermore, Dr Mustafa Kamaal attacked Congress and blamed its Ministers for ignoring the wishes of NC workers. He further went ahead and cautioned the Congress leaders to mend ways or it would have to witness strong repercussions. He also claimed that Congress is discriminating with NC workers wherever it has majority. While NC claims that it is Congress that is creating mess, Congress leadership is raising fingers on NC for ignoring Congress cadre in those regions and belts where Congress is weak. They claim that instead of strengthening Congress and NC workers collectively, NC favours its own cadre and ignoring Congress workers. If one goes by the reported statements of both Member Parliaments (MPs) of Jammu province, it becomes more clear that how Congress is pointing out the discriminatory atttiude of NC. They have-in number of party meetings-cited numerous examples where NC Ministers have rejected the genuine demands of Congress workers. Furthermore, it is not just Congress leadership of Jammu region that are fuming but even senior Congress leaders from Kashmir valley are also averse to the working of NC Ministers and leaders. While launching a veiled attack against NC, former Minister and AICC Member, Abdul Gani Vakil had on Sunday stated that "Congress is quite a relevant force in Jammu and Kashmir state and those (read NC) undermining it were living in an illusion." He even went ahead and pointed out that "Congress will not play B team in coalition." While top brass of both the political outfits are claiming that things are normal and both the parties are working in a cordial manner, the venom which the leadership of both the parties are spitting against each other reflects a very murky picture which may prove disastrous for ruling regime in days to come.
