| Agitated protestors roughs up SHO Billawar | | |

Jammu, June 19: SHO Billawar was today roughed up by the agitated mob in Billawar of Kathua district, when the officer on duty was in a bid to pacify protesters who had blocked the road at Barmani village in Billawar to protest against PHE Department for failing to supply drinking water in the area for days.
According to reports agitated over non supply of drinking water, the people blocked the road at Barmani village in Billawar demanding regular water supply and blocked the traffic on road to give vent to their anger.
Reports said that in a bid to diffuse the situation, a police team led by SHO Billawar rushed there and tried to pacify them but protestors didn't budge forcing police to use mild force. The use of force worked as adding of fuel to the fire who later attacked the police team in which SHO suffered injuries.
Meanwhile senior police officials, including additional SP and SDPO rushed there and they assured the protesters who were demanding water supply that their demands would be fulfilled and after getting assurance from senior police and administrative officials the protestors lifted their protest.
Meanwhile, police have registered case in assault on SHO on duty and has started investigation.
