JKMTCA alleges nexus between various concerned employees | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jun 20: The representative of J&K Motor Transport Companies Association (JKMTCA) today alleged that state is threatened by an unholy nexus between transport Mafia Police, Traffic enforcement and Excise Employees. In a press conference the office bearers of the association said, "This nexus is violating the provision of Motor Vehicle Act by allowing three time higher the permissible load of 9 mtrs prevalent throughout the country." "To control overloading proper functioning of weigh -bridge is necessary but there is weigh bridge at the Railway Station Toll Post Jammu but it is pity that unscrupulous people ignore it and carry heavy overload sometimes resulting into fatal accidents, speakers added. To end the menace of overloading, the speakers suggested the menace of overloading could be controlled by installation of computerized weigh bridges somewhere across Udhampur. "Over the last six decades the civil transporters were 'being engaged by the Food and Supplies Department to carry stores to various areas including difficult areas in Jammu Province. The civil transporters were allowed 10% freight less than the Department paid to J&K SRTC, they added. The appealed that proportionate work also be given to the civil transporters as per previous practice. Speakers also regretted the condition of Transport Nagar, Narwal, Jammu and said that ever since the Transport Nagar, Narwal Jammu was operationalised, no repairs to 'its roads drains or lanes resulting the same into a spot deteriorating with each passing day. Speakers demanded establishing of camp office that will be functional during the durbar move of Office of the Transport Commissioner to Srinagar and early release of pending of freight charges in JAKFED.
