Shiv Sena protests against erratic power, water supply | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 20: In protest against unscheduled power cuts and non-availability of water in city and rural areas, the Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (Thackeray) took out a procession in different parts of old city. The protest march started from Sabzi Mandi and after passing through main bazaars of Jammu City concluded at City Chowk To express their resentment, Shiv Sena- Dogra Front workers burnt a refrigerator saying that such gadgets are of no use when there is non-availability of electricity. While addressing the gathering Ashok Gupta said that enhancement of 32 lakh unit electricity announced by the Government for Jammu region then why there is 8 hours continuous power cut in Jammu City and 10 hours cut in rural areas even after increase in electricity. Gupta called recent increase in the water and electricity tariff a failure of the collation government and their policies on economic front and further expressed surprise that Chief Minister is not uttering a single word over the non-availability of electricity and water. He demanded that when the people of Jammu are paying tariff according to the units consumed and there is commitment of the Chief Engineer to provide 24 hours power to the people of Jammu then why the authorities are not fulfilling the commitment.
