With annual pilgrimage to Amarnath shrine in South Kashmir set to begin from June 25, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will deploy about 5,000 personnel to ensure adequate security for a smooth Yatra. Official spokesman said that the force has made all the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. Additional security personnel will be deployed along the national highway to guard pilgrims. The forces will also provide necessary logistics help to the pilgrims visiting the Amarnath cave shrine. "As many as 40 additional CRPF companies will be deployed for the security of Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir this year. The additional companies have been mobilised from reserve CRPF forces in the state and these are other than those deployed for other security duties in Jammu and Kashmir", he added. He further said that the CRPF and state police have played a key role in the multi-agency security grid for Amarnath Yatra for many years now. When contacted Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Dilbag Singh said the total number of 40 companies state police and CRPF will deploy in the Yatra. The State and CRPF police had finalised security arrangements and so far there was no intelligence report on any militant threat to the Yatra. |
