| CCI holds interactive meeting with Reg Dir and Dy Dir ESI | | | early times report
jammu, June 20: Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) jammu organized an interactive session with Regional Director ESI, Rattan Kumar and Dy Director ESI Rakesh Chauhan at Chamber House. After according warm welcome to visitors by presenting the flower bouquets, the Y V Sharma, President Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) in his welcome address said that due to lack of awareness among the trading community about the applicability of this Act, the said Act should be kept in abeyance for atleast for five years and the awareness programmes should be held with the trading community about the benefits of the scheme.
Sharma further said that the department should not issue non bail able warrants against the business community coming under ESI Act. This type of punishment is for the criminals and not for the tax payers. During the interactive session, the members present raised their concern about the harassment by the visiting Inspectors and forcefully issuing the notices which are totally unjustified. Arun Gupta Secretary General Chamber of Commerce & Industry requested the Regional Director ESI to withdraw the criminal cases lying in different courts by introducing one time settlement scheme and ministry to waive off the panel interest and penalty. He further said that the members of business community should not be harassed by the authorities without listening to them.
The Regional Director gave patient hearing to the problems highlighted in the session by the members and assured that corrective steps will be taken to remove the bottlenecks of the Act. In his concluded speech Sharma thanked Sh. Rattan Kumar, Regional Director, ESI and Rakesh Chauhan, Dy Director, ESI for sparing their valuable time and listening to the genuine issues raised in the interactive session.
At the end Sham Lal Langer, Sr Vice President presented the Vote of Thanks. Besides Deepak Aggarwal, Secretary CCI and Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Treasurer CCI the interactive session was attended by the senior members of Chamber of Commerce & Industry which include Bankey Behari Gupta, Virender Puri, Vinod Sachdeva, Ram Langer, Bhuvn-eshwar Gandotra, Arun Gupta, Chander Shekhar and others. |
