NPSU demands roll back of Hr Edu Dept's recent decisions | | | early times report jammu, June 20: National Panthers Students' Union (NPSU) has alleged that the recent three decisions taken by the higher education authorities are totally against the student community. Addressing a press conference here today at party office, State President National Panthers' Students Union (NPSU) Partap Singh Jamwal said that due to the three decisions taken recently common students will not be able to get higher education. Due to increase in fee structure by the state government, the students who were already suffering presently were not be able to afford their expenses in education and this will not only affect the student community but also their families. Jamwal also said that the 30% seats reduced by the government for the city colleges is again a step against the interests of students. NPSU leader said that every time students have to follow the path of agitation for their admissions, so government should increase the seats instead of reducing them. Jamwal further added that the criteria imposed by the higher Education authorities that the students have to get minimum 50% aggregate in marks for their admission is totally against the poor and rural areas. He said that the standard of education in government run secondary schools in rural areas is such that most of the students fail to score 50% marks as they lack infrastructure and staff. Jamwal demanded that the state government should reconsider its decisions and warned that if these decisions will not be rolled back NPSU would launch an agitation. |
