PDP condemns police action on people at Dramni village | | | early times report HIRANAGAR, June 20 : General Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thakur Balbir Singh has strongly condemned police atrocities on the people who were peacefully protesting against non-availability of drinking water in Billawar area. Addressing a meeting of party workers at Dayala Chak, Thakur Balbir Singh said that state government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah is trying to gag voice of the people through force. He said that yesterday's incident at Dramni village was another example of the oppressive policies being adopted by the present regime. He said that since its formation, this government has been using forces to snub genuine voice of the people. Whenever people protest for their rights, this regime indulged into using force, he said and regretted that every sections of the society have faced atrocities at the hands of the government due to oppressive policies of this dispensation. Thakur Balbir Singh, while strongly condemning Dramni incident, said that entire Kandi belt of Kathua district has been confronting with severe shortage of drinking water. All the schemes implemented by the government to solve the water crises seem to be implemented only on papers. He said that there was huge bungling in various PHE scheme. He rued that people who were demanding drinking water were attacked with lathis by the force. Singh said that it was result of the corruption from top to bottom that there was no one to ensure proper implementation of water supply schemes. He said that majority of the ministers in the present government were themselves involved in corruption so they were not in a position to keep a check on corruption at ground level. |
