senior leaders in Soz camp unlikely to figure in restructured PCC | Prospects blocked by rival faction....? | | early times report Jammu, June 20: The scene with faction ridden J&K Pradesh Congress Committee may be quiet at present but it is surely not suggestive of 'all is well' with the organization. In what can be deciphered this as lull before the storm, the state unit of Congress is all set to see some 'heads rolling' , a development that is likely to push it further to one more extreme brink of factionalism. Sources said even though the party leadership has attributed delay in announcing the new, restructured PCC for the state to high command's priorities this time in settling issues pertaining to Presidential polls scheduled next month, there are certain hicuups on account of reservation with some names in the list for the new body of executive functionaries. Sources said that concerned quarters in New Delhi who matter in finalizing the names have not given approval to at least two senior leaders of the party , who also figure in the erstwhile PCC. One each from Kashmir and Jammu region, their names were recommend in the list submitted by PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz for inclusion in the new body but certain quarters have expressed reservation on this recommendation and contended that they have not contributed much to the party and its functional strength in past tenure and therefore need not be included again in the restructured unit, sources said. Sources further said that this move has come following 'non approval' signal from Union Health Minister and former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad whose say matters in giving final shape to any decision or matters of organization in J&K. Confirming that the names of these two leaders who held senior positions in the organization and have been closely associated with the president of PCC are out in the next panel, sources however said that on account of their proximity with Prof Soz, the latter is still trying to push hard and virtually fight for their inclusion among the executive functionaries. " There is actually a dispute over the issue which is also becoming a cause for prolonging the finalizing of the names…….the two leaders themselves are lobbying for approval of their names but it may not fetch anything positive as in charge J&K affairs also seems to have made up his mind against what Soz camp is trying hard….", said a senior leader of the party. However, other names recommend in the list by Prof Soz have been given nod and are likely to figure in the final list, he added.
