Govt claims on return of militancy hollow: police | Hizbul nexus questions revocation of AFSPA | | early times report JAMMU, June 20: The penetrating of militants in J&K police Force with the recent unearthing of Hizbul Mujahideen and some cops nexus is an eye opener for the State Government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is boasting of returning normalcy to trouble-torn Valley of Kashmir and is strongly advocating for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). The penetrating of militants especially deadly Hizbul Mujihedeen outfit in J&K Police Force is heartening and it sounds an alarm that militants were neither down nor out in Kashmir Valley and those who were claiming that militancy has been completely wiped out were in a delusion. The recent happenings in Kashmir reveal that situation is going from bad to worse day by day so far as the activities of terrorists and anti social elements are concerned. There is no denying the fact that the situation is taking a critical turn and returning to 1989-90 position when militancy surfaced in Kashmir, said Rehmatullah an octogenarian farmer from border district of Kupwara. He said the situation is deteriorating day by day with militants coming out with threats to Panches and Sarpanches asking them to quit or face action. Some of the Panches and Sarpanches have already resigned in different parts of Valley. Rehmatullah a nationalist by core who had stood by the nationalist cause always even during the Indo Pak wars in 1947 , 1965 and 1971 said that being an old person now he has no strength to challenge those forces who have spelled a doom for Kashmir for their vested interests. He, however, made a dig at political leadership also for having no pragmatic policy to tackle the unrest in Valley by going into its root causes. “Our politicians have been misleading Delhi also so far as matters related to Kashmir are concerned and every political party tried to undermine its opponents to seek Centre's good will and for this they did not hesitate in going to any extent''. The same is happening at present those at the helm of affairs were claiming situation is totally changed and the AFSPA and other laws be revoked without knowing that the militants have penetrated deep into their Government. ``What can be expected from the police force when its men are hand in glove with terrorists ''he asked? ``Can they guarantee security and safety of the people in the state if AFSPA is revoked and CRPF is replaced with local police'', he asked and urged the Government to be realistic and refrain from misleading Centre any more. Rehmatullah was strongly supported by Hafiza a widow who had been worst hit by terrorism and has lost her four relatives during the 23 year long militancy in the Valley. She said the Government should isolate militants and chase them to finish. But its wrong policies have provided the oxygen for dying militancy in the Valley. She said the situation is becoming confusing day by day with recent revelations made by security agencies that the separatist leaders are also on hit list of terrorists and stressed on intensifying their security. This reminds one the days of nineties when terrorism was on peak in Valley and when separatist leaders like Moulvi Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and others were gunned down by terrorists. She said the recent warning by hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani that the youth will again take to arms should not be taken lightly and it indicates that the terrorists and separatists are on their so-called mission and any delusion in this regard will lead to serious consequences. Hafiza said that Government of India should also take the cognizance of the happenings in Valley viz- a -viz resurfacing of terrorism attacks and frame a long term strategy to deal with the situation. Outright opposing the removal of AFSPA and CRPF bunkers she strongly advocated for re-deployment of security forces in sensitive areas so that the militancy is completely wiped out . |
