| Crime branch registers cases against various departments | | | Srinagar, February 01
Specific information rendered by various quarters to Crime Branch has resulted in registration of a number of cases in Police Station, Crime Branch Srinagar for the last one and a half month.
According to SSP, Crime Branch Kashmir, cases registered pertained to embezzlement to the tune of lakhs of rupees at the hands of officers and officials in Agriculture department at Pulwama district, SRTC Kupwara, Revenue department Rawalpora and Kangan and Zilla Sainik Board, Srinagar.
The investigations of all the cases is at threshold but investigation conducted so far revealed that in FIR numbers 50, 51, 52, 53, 54 of 2006 the embezzlement has been made by fabricating the remittance of vouchers and other connected documents while in FIR number 55/06 the receivers of amount in question allege its subsequent payment to the concerned revenue authorities including one Naib Tehsildar.
The FIR number 16/07 pertains to fabricating records relating to disbursement of fertilizers at subsidized rates under Draught Relief Programme for 1999-2000. In the FIR number 17/07, the loan has been sanctioned by SFC even in favour of non-existing person thereby subject in the state exchequer to wrongful loss. The FIR numbers 01/07 and 10/07 pertained to importing goods from outside the state with a motive to evade tax.
