Govt keen to develop far off areas: Sham | New Bhaderwah SDH ready for inauguration | | Early Times Report DODA, June 21 : Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma today asserted that the government was keen to develop backward and far-flung areas as per the commitment made with the people. Minister was interacting with the locals during his visit to newly constructed 100 bedded Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah. The hospital constructed with all modern facilities is likely to be inaugurated in next few days. The three storey hospital complex constructed by Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation JKPCC has been completed at a cost of Rs. 24.65 crores. Sham said that the coalition government has paid focused attention to health and Medical Education and during the first half of its tenure a massive development has been achieved in the sector. He said presently many health institutions are nearing completion in the erstwhile Doda district which include 300 bedded District Hospital in Doda, 100 bedded hospital in Kishtwar and 100 bedded Bhaderwah hospital, besides a number of PHCs coming up in other areas. He said the SDH building Bhaderwah was almost complete and after becoming functional 24 hour service with all diagnostic facilities would be provided to the people. He said it was the endeavour of the government to provide better health service facility to the remote and far-flung areas like Bhaderwah. On way, the Minister also visited village Malothi (Bhalla) and inspected pace of work on the upcoming floriculture farm. The Director Horticulture K. K. Sharma, who also accompanied the Minister, informed that farm is spread over an area of 501.92 hector with 383 beneficiary farmers. He said during last financial year 214 training programme were conducted in District Doda to educate the people about flower farming and its scope in the market. Sham said that Jammu and Kashmir has a rural economy and its growth was primarily dependent on the development of rural areas. He stressed upon the agriculturists to adopt new techniques and go for diversification of crops for better dividends. He also asked the farmers to work on multi-dimensional lines as per the area scenario and not stick to the traditional crops. He said that more efforts were required to strengthen the horticulture and floriculture sectors in the state. Stressing for profitability of agro based ventures in the area, he said educated youth are to be motivated to pursue their carrier in Horticulture and floriculture and allied sectors. He said for this purpose government was providing necessary facilities to those youth who would opt for agriculture profession. OBC Vice Chairman Kuldip Raj Verma, MLC Naresh Gupta, DDC Doda, and other concerned officers also accompanied the Minister. |
