Asks officers to ensure proper cleanliness of tourist places | DyCM Inspects STP | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR June 21 : Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, along with a team of officers today visited Boulvard, Nishat and Nasembagh areas. Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen, Vice Chairman, SDA, Farooq Renzushah, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N.Qasba and other senior officers accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister. Tara Chand while inspecting LAAM Nishat sewerage treatment plant (STP) was informed that daily treatment capacity of the plant has reached to 4.5 million liters. He directed the concerned officers to carry out regular testes of treated water to ensure its 100% purity. Terming tourism backbone of State's economy, Deputy Chief Minister asked VC, LAWDA and Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation to further improve the basic facilities being provided to the tourists by their departments. He asked the officers to ensure proper cleanliness in and around all tourists places along side of Dal Lake for further improve their aesthetic ambiance. Giving details of the Dal cleaning project, VC, LAWDA informed that five machines, imported from US and Switzerland, along with old machines have been put into service to clean unwanted weeds in the Lake. He said augmentation of the machineries had become necessary in view of the growing magnitude of the weed. Tara Chand directed him to ensure lifting of extracted weed from the road immediately without allowing it to pile up for next day besides renovating the footpaths. He instructed officers of the Authority to show substantial progress on all Dal Development works. |
