NPSU demands rollback of fee hike, blames higher education department for decision

Jammu, June 21: Today National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) held a protest demonstration against the Higher education Deptt. at the main gate of GDC Ploura, Jammu. The protest was led by Mahesh Bakshi (President Tehsil Jammu NPSU) and Yogesh Talwar (NPSU) leader.
Addressing the media persons Mahesh Bakshi, demanded immediate rollback of the 10% hike on fee of different streams of B.A, B.com, B sc.
He said the poor people cannot afford to bear this burden. Majority of people in the state are living in poverty and are unable to make both ends meet.
This hike will dim the prospects of their wards for higher studies in colleges. This will also pave way and excuse for private educational institution to hike their free also.
Speaking on the occasion Bakshi said, "Earlier the admission in colleges were made according to the merit, but now the selection in admission are being made on the basis of common entrance test for which separate fee for course has to be paid, the fee for common admission test excludes the admission to be paid after selection." "These tactics of higher education department to raise the revenue has thurst extra burden on student community.
NPSU strongly condemns the move, he added. He appealed the state government to withdraw this decision in larger interest of student community particularly poor students belonging to far flung areas. Reluctance to withdraw the decision of fee hiking will compel the students for agitation. On the occasion Rahul Bamotra alleged that the recent three decision taken by the higher education authorities were totally against the student's community. He added that due to this decision common students will not be able to get higher education. Due to increase in fee structure by the state govt. the students who were already suffering presently were not be able to efforts their expenses in education and this will not only effect the students community but also their families.Yogesh Talwar also said that the 30% seats reduced by the govt. for the city colleges are totally against the student's community due to which a large no. of students will have a lot. According to him, every time students have to fallow the path of agitation for their admission, so govt. should increase the seats instead for reducing them.
NPSU demanded that the state govt. should roll back its decision of 30% reduction in seats, Hike in university fee and 50% marks criteria. And warned that the if there decision will not be rolled back NPSU as earlier this time also will be soon on roads for the justice and rights of students community.
