Royal XI, Desi Rock Stars reach semis

JAMMU, June 21: Royal XI and Desi Rock Stars today sailed into the semifinals of the Summer Premier League Cricket Tournament, organised by a group of young cricketers at Green Field ground, here. In the quarterfinals played today, Royal XI defeated Super Challengers by two wickets. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Super Challengers set a target of 83 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 15 overs.
Altaf was highest scorer with 22 runs, followed by Vishnu and Prince, who contributed 17 and 16 runs respectively. Sajjad added 10 runs to the total. From Royal XI, Shivam claimed three wickets while Shubam took two. Ishant and Arjun shared apiece each. In reply, Royal XI chased the total making 83 runs in 14.3 overs losing eight wickets. Adhi and Rattan remained top scorers with 26 runs each. Vishnu was most successful bowler from Super Challengers with three wickets while Vishu and Altaf took two and three respectively.
Meanwhile, in another quarterfinal match of the day, Desi Rock Stars trounced AVS Kings by eight wickets. Batting first, AVS Kings bundled out for 113 runs in 13 overs with Shaksham (23) and Sajan (22) being top scorers. From Desi Rock Stars, Ankush and Rohit shared three wickets each, followed by Mohit, who took one.
Batting second, Desi Rock Stars attained the target of 114 runs in 14.4 overs for the loss of two wickets. Taran played match winning innings of 40 runs while Ankush contributed 21. Mohit and Rohit added 18 and 14 runs respectively. From AVS Kings, Abhishek and Asmeet took one wicket each.
