JKNPP condemns police action at Dramni | | | early times report jammu, June 21: Strongly condemning the brutal lathi charge by police at Dramni village in Tehsil Billawar, the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) said today that use of force on party workers was without provocation as they were staging a peaceful protest. In a meeting of JKNPP held under the chairmanship of Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, the members described the action as unwarranted since the people were peacefully protesting against acute shortage of water and erratic power supply in their area. The meeting said that severity of police action could be gauged from the fact that several people including Secretary Young Panthers, Manoj Gupta were seriously injured. The Panthers leader urged Governor N N Vohra to dissolve the state Assembly as the state government has failed to provide basic amenities to the poor and needy public of the state despite receiving huge amount of money from the centre. He urged the Governor to set up a high level committee for enquiry regarding brutal action of police and action against the SHO Billawar In the meanwhile, JKNPP State General Secretary Anita Thakur has also condemned the lathi charge on the women, children and innocent villagers by Billawar police. Thakur alleged that this was done at the behest of local MLA and Minister Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma to wreak vengeance on MManoj Gupta and Panthers Party leaders who had exposed corrupt face of the minister for misappropriating crores of rupees in the Cooperatives. She demanded immediate dismissal and prosecution of the minister.
