Raja Aijaz Ali denies filing CCTV footage before Bedi Commission | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 21: During cross examination by the lawyer representing the family of Mohammad Yusuf Shah, NC worker who died under mysterious circumstances on 30th September last year, Raja Aijaz Ali, former IGP security today denied having filed any documents including the CCTV footage along with his counter affidavit before the Justice HS Bedi commission.During cross examination by Mushtaq Ahmad representing the family of the deceased NC worker, Raja Aijaz Ali, former IGP (Security) said he had not filed any documents including the CCTV footage pertaining to Yusuf's death with his counter affidavit before the Justice Bedi commission. The CCTV footage has been filed by the State Crime Branch before the Commission to prove that Haji Mohammad Yusuf Shah had left the Gupkar Road Residency of the Chief Minister in good health when he was handed over to the Crime Branch officials in presence of the former IGP. "The former IGP (security) during his cross examination today denied having filed any annexure including CCTV footage etc along with his counter affidavit," advocate representing the family of the deceased NC worker said.During another cross examination, deputy superintendent of police (Dy. SP) Bashir Ahmad Ganai of the state crime branch said he had followed the Supreme Court of India directions pertaining to arrest while taking Haji Mohammad Yusuf Shah into custody. The family alleges Haji Mohammad Yusuf had been tortured to death in custody. A magisterial probe ordered by the state government has, however, ruled out any mischief in the death of the NC worker. The death of Haji Mohammad Yusuf Shah in police hospital Srinagar on 30th September 2011 had raised many eyebrows as the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had called him to his Gupkar Road Residence on 29th September 2011 following allegations by two NC workers that Haji Mohammad Yusuf Shah had taken huge sums of money from them promising them a ministerial berth and MLC's post. Retired judge of the Supreme Court, Justice H.S. Bedi is heading the one-man judicial commission probing the NC worker's death.
